Mitigation of future Disasters: submission to Deputy Minister of Disaster Management
In addition to disasters faced by different segments of society such as farmers and fisherman, from a gender perspective 1.2Mn out of 5,2Mn families are headed by women. DRR and mitigation needs to be gendered. Furthermore, Agriculture’s footprint has caused the loss of whole ecosystems around the globe. Agriculture is among the greatest contributors to global warming, emitting more greenhouse gases than all our cars, trucks, trains, and airplanes combined. Coupled with it is pressure to produce food in the future. Our conversation should hence become broader in scope and coverage.
