I am an undergraduate student from McGill University. I have been working at the CHA as an intern from May 11 and I will finish my time here on July 8. As an intern, I have been engaged in several activities these past 2 months. My primary project was to write a research paper on the international labor market.
The aim of the paper was to assess the conditions and requirements of the labor market of recipient countries to determine whether Sri Lanka is meeting those requirements and identify the skills to invest in. In the paper, I also discussed obstacles that are preventing migrant laborers from reaping the benefits of the market as well as policy proposal to overcome these issues. The key findings were sent to the Minister proposing key points of discussion.
I also helped Kumutha by writing some of the content for workingwoman.lk that is going to be launched later this year. I also assisted her by finding organizations to include in the PSLOO project. Finally, I did a literature survey comparing old and new IDPs in the North and East that will help Bharathi with her research initiative.
