CHA participated in the discussions on Stakeholder Engagement in the Context of the 2030 Agenda organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in collaboration with the UN in Sri Lanka and Ministry of Sustainable Development and Wildlife.
In its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the government of Sri Lanka is planning to undertake its first Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the 2018 session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. The consultation was to seek views of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on the opportunities and challenges regarding meaningful stakeholder engagement during the VNR process and the broader implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Sri Lanka. The CSOs participated in the discussion shared their views on stakeholder engagement in the dimension of quality, where it works well, where does it struggle. Also views were shared on possible roles of CSOs in VNR and recommendations to strengthen engagement in the context of VNR process.
